SABBATH DAY
Jesus has become our Sabbath Day!
What a wonderful work Jesus has done for us and what beautiful precious promises God gave us through him! Therefore, I wish to direct your attention to the mighty eternal sacrifice that Jesus did and to bring honor to it by taking great care to rightly divide the Word of God. This book contains knowledge drawn completely from the scriptures and exhibits how Jesus Christ fulfilled the law of the Sabbath through himself and became the Sabbath for us.
The Fourth commandment (Exodus 20:8) says to “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy” and it says in (Exodus 31:15) “Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.”
Now, this is a law given by the only true and living God and the Bible tells of a man being killed for violating the Sabbath (Num 15:32-36) just for picking up sticks. So, if we go strictly by the Old Testament than we are bound by this law unto death, however, in Jesus Christ we have "grace and mercy". So, let us find our way out of death and into life.
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
The Ten Commandments were given to establish Family Order within Israel because there would of been no unity without integrity, trust, loyalty, discipline, etc. How can a family stay together if the husband or wife is cheating on each other, if they are seeking other gods, if the children are in rebellion, if they cannot keep the enemy out of the house, if they are stealing from their brother or neighbor, etc. It is also the same today because God wants a family order in the Church the same as he wanted in Israel when he established them.
In the Spirit of Family Order we keep the Ten Commandments, however, we do have to examine every document given to us by God in order to rightly divide the Word of God. If Jesus came to establish a New Testament, than we have to understand that this First Testament (Old Testament) had some changes done to it.
Jesus left a testament for us and we read about this in Hebrews 9:16-18 “For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. 18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.”
Notice the last part of the scripture in verse 18 states that the first testament was also dedicated with blood but not perfect blood like the blood of Jesus. The Old Testament was the first testament and it was covered in the blood of animal sacrifices. This only covered Israel’s sins for a short time period and subsequently, this act of sacrificing had to be done over and over without ever taking away their sins.
Thank God for Jesus Christ because he made the New Testament for us which became the perfect testament because he was the perfect sacrifice forever. However, Jesus had to die in order for this New Testament to take force so this testament was dedicated with his blood that purged us of sin. Since all this has taken place already and we have received the New Testament, than we have to examine this testament to find out what this document has fulfilled, altered, added to or changed according to the acts and words by Jesus Christ within his Government.
Jesus came to establish a government and by doing so, we received 14 New Covenants that are between God the Father and Jesus. In turn, Jesus Christ then established these covenants with us. In addition, God added a new commandment (John 13:34) and did away with ceremonial laws and animal sacrifices because Jesus became the perfect eternal sacrifice. Subsequently, we became free to eat whatever we wanted which started in (Acts 10:9-16) with Peter and than spoken of in (1 Tim 4:1-5), (Acts 15:28-29), (1 Cor 8:4-8), (1 Cor 10:27-28), (Matt 15:10-11).
The New Testament keeps the Ten Commandments intact except we now see mercy and grace where death was the penalty. However, a change appears to the Fourth Commandment by Jesus Christ establishing that he is "Lord of the Sabbath". We know that death was the penalty for violating the Sabbath Commandment and when Jesus began his ministry, he demonstrated and announced the change to the Fourth Commandment to everybody around him in the following scriptures.
Luke 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. 15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? 17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
Mark 2:23-28 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. 24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? 25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? 26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? 27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
John 5:8-11 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. 11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
Matthew 12:1-13 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. 2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. 3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; 4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? 5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? 6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. 7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. 9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: 10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
It is now seen that this change to the Fourth Commandment was coming as far back as when the scripture states that David went into the Temple and did eat the shewbread which was not lawful for him to eat. The Old Testament reveals the New Testament and when David ate of that which was not lawful to eat, he was not put to death, punished nor reprimanded. Jesus came and technically broke the law, however, he was God manifested in the flesh and came to establish and announce a new way. Jesus superseded the law which made us free from the law of Moses.
This meant we no longer were bound by the Fourth Commandment according to the first day of the week or the seventh day of the week but were made free to walk in the Seventh Day of rest everyday. The Word of God talks about in Hebrews 4:11 “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest”.
This means that we now have the right to rest in God everyday and not on one specific chosen day of the week. This means that we can do well on the Sabbath Day and not be in violation of the Law. Instead of being in condemnation and sin for feeding our family or healing the sick on the Sabbath Day, we are free to do as Jesus did. For we read the scriptures that said what Jesus did on the Sabbath Day and in doing so, he was righteous and holy and never sinned.
Does not this scripture state we shall do as Jesus did and greater:
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
John 21:23 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
This means we are walking in the Sabbath everyday because we are walking as one with the Lord of the Sabbath. It means we are walking with him daily in the Sabbath and are instant in season and out of season to heal or to do well any day of the week. If this wasn’t so than why would Jesus be born of man and walk this earth in his ministry and violate his own law so we would follow in the same violation. This isn’t so because the Bible said that Jesus had no sin ever. Neither do we when we are one with him and do as he has done.
Men have established Church Denominations out of the Sabbath Day alone and everything they do is based on that one day a week. They bicker and argue over which one day of the week is the Sabbath and they glory amongst themselves that the day they picked is the right one and everybody else is wrong and in sin. These churches pick through the Old Testament trying to bind their members by ordinances that were against us and that were nailed to the cross. In the end, what Jesus did on the Sabbath was righteous, Jesus ordained it and set it into motion by God the Father himself. One day does not bind God or us any longer because God is set into motion in our lives everyday, not on just one day.
Jesus freed us from this and now everyday we are walking in the freedom and power of the New Testament.
Colossians 2:14-17 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
The Sabbath Day was as verse 17 states; a shadow of things to come. Today we are the walking and talking Sabbath Day people, not seeking to keep one day Holy but keeping everyday Holy. Christians were not meant just to have power six days a week and to do nothing on the Sabbath Day or to have power on just one day of the week and to keep just one day Holy.
If you are still not convinced and are going to go back to the Old Law under Moses than please understand that as soon as you show up to Church on whatever day you believe is the actual Sabbath Day than you probably have already sinned. First of all, which day is the actual Sabbath Day? No one can agree, so how can you say that you are in the right day keeping it Holy. If you happen to be at Church on the “actual right Sabbath day” than you may still be in sin because according to Jewish Law you can only travel one ½ mile on the Sabbath Day. How far do you travel on the Sabbath day to get to Church? Well if it is more than one ½ mile you would be considered in violation and in sin which meant a death sentence for you by stoning. Did you eat breakfast on the Sabbath Day before Church? Well I hope you prepared it before the going down of the sun the previous day because that is what the Israelites were told to do with their food preparation in order to do no work on the Sabbath. This would be considered a violation of the observance of the Sabbath Day and in addition, if you used any method of applying heat to the food than you broke the Sabbath Day Law.
In the City I lived, the local Jewish Temple had a whole housing development in the nearby area surrounding the Temple which made it within easy walking distance. The reason for this is that the Jewish people were not allowed to drive to Temple on the Sabbath Day and thus they walked to Temple every weekend. A Jew is not even allowed to stoke a fire on the Sabbath Day and so driving a car is creating fire according to Jewish Law by creating a fire in the cylinders of the engine. Hope you don’t drive to church if you are going to go back under the law of Moses.
Did you turn the lights on during the Sabbath Day, than you just violated the law because you cannot switch the light on or off. Did you open your refrigerator, well sorry, you just violated the law. How about turn on a fan, well again you just violated the law. Did you wash dishes, make coffee or tea? How about the kids playing with toys, women putting on make-up, using the telephone, etc? All breaking the law of the Sabbath and considered a sin which is all punishable under the law. I don’t think I need to go on because there is much more.
Are you understanding now that it’s either Jesus by the New and Living Way and the New Testament teaching on the Sabbath Day or you are going back under the law to the Old Testament. It’s your choice and I leave this last scripture for you. May you know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
2 Corinthians 3:3-18 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
